Mythic Echoes and Radical Reimaginings in Katri Kainulainen and Maximilian Latva’s Artistic Practice by Laine Kristberga, published in Globus Hystericus (2025), pp. 246–251, explores how the Finnish duo Kainulainen & Latva blend mythology, folklore, and ritual with irony and absurdity in their performance art. Drawing on shamanistic traditions and Finnish folklore, their performances deconstruct symbols of power, gender, and identity through masks, puppets, and performative objects. The article examines their use of mythic motifs such as the bear, bird, and egg, and argues that their work reimagines traditional cultural narratives, transforming them into critical commentaries on contemporary power structures.
